This map was drawn by historian William S. Pelleatreau around 1887 based on records from the Town of East Hampton, to record the first property owners of East Hampton. The division of lots done by the first settlers shows the names of property owners, indicating neighbors and other markers of location, such as the cemetery. The map reflects what property ownership would have looked like close to 1640.
