Description

“What do you remember most?” was the questions asked of the panelists who lived through the hurricane as school children in 1938. The discussion was inspired by the popularity of The Long Island Express: Rare Photographs of East Hampton Town After the Hurricane of ‘38. Ecker is from Montauk and talked abut the Manor House as a refuge and the state of the fishing village. Daniels and Halsey are from East Hampton and recalled Halsey’s garage and the howling wind and deluge of rain; Crasky was in the Amagansett School but led home by her father. She saw the Presbyterian steeple fall. A packed audience also shared memories passed down in their families.
