Description

This document is a copy of the original contract created by John Tuthill on January 25, 1686. The contract describes some of the work Tuthill was hired to do, which involved settling a land boundary dispute in the area in and around of Hashemomuck Pound [Hashamomuck Pond]. The document also mentions some of the people involved in this dispute, including John Conklin (spelled John Conkling in the document), Colonel John Young, and Thomas Moore. The document includes the signature of Robert Hempstead (spelled Hempsted), the Town Clerk who recorded the contract in 1750. Although the original document was created in 1686, the later copy, this later copy was torn and entered into the town records book on April 24, 1750. This copy was reviewed by the Town Clerk on September 25, 1750. This document was part of a scrapbook of manuscript documents created by Morton Pennypacker.
