Description
This image shows the main house from the Bell Estate, which was also known as Broadview. The Bell Estate is now part of the Barnes Landing Association of Amagansett. The house was built in 1914 by Dr. Dennistoun M. Bell and Agnes Bell, and when Agnes died in 1969, her home spent many years in limbo. At one point, the estate was an event space, at another it was supposed to become a development. In January 1988, the estate was purchased by Reginald F. Lewis and Loida Lewis, who made Broadview their home. The Lewises loved the cliffside view, which appears in this image. Broadview overlooked Gardiner's Bay and had a funicular for beach access.
